History[]
A year before the start of the scenarios, Kim Dokja and Yoo Sangah were paired together for the entrance interview for Mino Soft, being tasked with finding the location of the interview. Working together, they successfully passed the interview and were hired on for a year-long period, being sent to work in different departments and falling out of touch as a result.[2]
There was an incident an unspecified amount of time after Kim Dokja's hiring where someone added pepper to the break room coffee over a period of time. This caused distress amongst the company employees, particularly those higher up, and the QA team was tasked with finding the culprit. Kim Dokja was sent to watch the break room, and while hiding and reading Ways of Survival, he noticed Yoo Sangah adding the pepper to the coffee. However, he did not tell anyone of his discovery, and she went unpunished.[2]
Kim Dokja kept to himself during his time at Mino Soft, mainly spending his time reading webnovels on his phone or working "in a gloomy fashion", and only speaking to a few individuals including Yoo Sangah.[3] Yoo Sangah, on the other hand was noted to have been popular (particularly with Mino Soft's male population), with rumours circulating that different men drove her home each night. These were just rumours, as she rode a bike to and from work (due to lacking exercise from frequently working overtime).[4] However, this was not for lack of offers, as Han Myungoh argued with her later over her declining his repeated offers to drive her home.[5]
Near the end of her contract and around a month prior to the start of the scenarios, Yoo Sangah was credited with a foreign buyer and promoted to a full-time employee.[4][6]
Synopsis[]
The first scenario starts at Mino Soft shortly after Kim Dokja, Yoo Sangah, and Han Myungoh's shifts ended. The night shift employees, including Yoon Sangho and the QA team manager Kim, faced the scenario together; Yoon Sangho killed Team Manager Kim, and hundreds of employees died. The grounds around Mino Soft were turned into a coin farm by the survivors, with the weaker individuals being forced to fight to the death or serve as sex slaves, allowing the stronger survivors to live off the sponsorship of constellations who enjoyed these depraved activities.[1]
After destroying the Absolute Throne in Main Scenario 4, Kim Dokja is relocated to Mino Soft's roof, where he is discovered by Yoon Sangho. The two descend to ground level and Yoon Sangho shows Kim Dokja around the coin farm;[1] after discovering Han Sooyoung's presence, Kim Dokja rejects Yoon Sangho's offer to join them and instead attacks the wanderers along with Han Sooyoung. They incapacitate and slaughter the coin farm facilitators, killing Yoon Sangho and ending the coin farm in the process.[3] The duo frees the imprisoned people and leaves them after a few encouraging words from Han Sooyoung.[7]
Trivia[]
- Mino Soft is likely to be a parody of the real-world game company Ubisoft. This is particularly likely considering they were formerly known as Ubi Soft, in the same naming pattern as Mino Soft. It could also be a play on the tech company Microsoft.
