Metatron, also known by his modifier Scribe of Heaven, was a powerful constellation of the Absolute Good system[1] and the leader of <Eden>.

As the Scribe of Heaven, he recorded the 'Good' of the world, deciding what was 'Good' and becoming its leading standard; this was an inheritable role which would be taken up by someone else in the event of his death.[2] He was one of the Seekers of the End and actively contributed to triggering the Apocalypse scenario during the Great War of Constellations and Demons.

Appearance[]

Metatron has grey, waist-length hair and wears thin-framed glasses.[4] Kim Dokja describes him as having transparent eyes[5] and a beautiful face.[6]

He was often seen with a faint smile;[5][6][7] Michael remembered Metatron always wearing the same smile for thousands of years.[8] Because of preparations for Armageddon, lately he is also seen with a tired face.[9][5]

Descriptions of Metatron frequently invoked imagery of white light.

His eyes were repeatedly said to be full of light, first with a cold light flashing in them while speaking to Yoo Joonghyuk in Eden,[10] then glowing in white light as he colluded remotely with Agares,[11] and filled with an almost-holy light when resolving to create a sealing tool for the Apocalypse Dragon.[12] In addition, his book emitted a bright white light while he oversaw Michael's slaughter of the other angels.[13]

Personality[]

Metatron had a gentle, unwaveringly calm demeanor. While speaking about the destruction of his nebula, his voice was very casual, and Kim Dokja observed that Metatron had a face that didn't show the slightest agitation.[5] It was rare enough for him to make a serious expression that Kim Dokja specifically commented on it when it happened.[14]

He had no compunctions against manipulating those around him to fulfill his goals, and his conversational style was to listen to his desires through another person's mouth.[5] Kim Dokja knew him as the type of person who would sacrifice anyone to further the cause of Absolute Good.[15]

Relationships[]

Uriel[]

Based on angelic authority, he ranks much higher than Uriel.[1] Metatron is Uriel's superior, and he finds her a headache to supervise.[4] Metatron once gave Uriel a mission to "Bring 10 lambs". Far from his original intention, Uriel instead brought 10 literal lambs to Eden.[6] When Metatron dies, Uriel becomes the ruler of Eden.[16]

Agares[]

Metatron and he consider each other as rivals, Metatron as representing the Absolute Good and Agares the Absolute Evil.  During the Great War of Saints and Demons they worked together and showed that they had mutual understanding and respect for each other. Like the two sides of the same coin, they turned out to be quite close to each other during the war.[17]

Synopsis[]

Metatron was among the constellations who offered to become Kim Dokja's sponsor in the second sponsor selection. Dokja considers him the strongest constellation on his list. As the constellations tried to bribe Kim Dokja to choose them, Metatron sent him 30,000 coins, the most of all the constellations. Sun Wukong looks at him for that. After the selection, Dokja thinks to himself that he was shaken by Metatron's offer to sponsor him.[1][18]

Metatron sends an indirect message looking at Kim Dokja with strange eyes when the latter said he wanted to delay killing the disaster Shin Yoosung (41st round).[19] He was embarrassed when Kim Dokja used his Bookmark skill to activate Jung Heewon's 'Judgement Time' skill against Shin Yoosung, but as a constellation of the Absolute Good system, he was most likely among the constellations who thought about it and gave Kim Dokja permission to use the skill. As Kim Dokja attacked Shin Yoosung, Metatron was looking at him. He was talking to himself just before Jung Heewon activated her sponsor's stigma, [Hell Flames Ignition], to finish off Shin Yoosung.[20]

Metatron watched Uriel with solemn eyes when she made a loving smile in response to Jung Heewon saying she wouldn't get involved in Kim Dokja and Yoo Joonghyuk's fight, which startled her into jumping and changing her expression.[21]

During Kim Dokja's negotiation with Persephone, she said something that was filtered before Kim Dokja could understand it, and Metatron was one of the constellations who immediately reacted, sending an indirect message to point out her rashness.[22]

As Kyrgios Rodgraim threatened to kill Kim Dokja, Metatron sent an indirect message severely criticizing his interference in the scenario.[23]

When Dokja dies and waits to be be resurrected by the attribute 'Eight Lives,' Metatron is among the constellations and nebulas that fight to insert themselves into Dokja's narrative. Metatron calls out to his soul and offers to lead him down Messiah's Path. Dokja declares that he has been resurrected with the power of Christ, which causes a fight between Eden and Vedas on whose story it is.[24]

At the constellation banquet, Metatron sends Uriel to accept Eden's story, with the punishment that she would not be able to use the internet for a month if she failed.[25]

Metatron was disappointed with how Kim Dokja progressed through the Dark Castle with ease after becoming a constellation, sending an indirect message to say Kim Dokja needed greater adversity.[26]

After Uriel descended into her incarnation's body in the 73rd Demon Realm to help Kim Dokja, Metatron watched her with severe eyes, before he and the archangels of Eden convened an emergency meeting with the Demon Kings of the Demon Realm that summoned her and the demon kings threatening Kim Dokja away.[27]
During Metatron's ordinance time, Raphael and Gabriel gossip that Uriel is being detained and told off by Metatron. After the ordinance ends, Metatron dismisses the low-grade angels and calls the archangels separately. It is noted that Metatron looks tired because he is busy preventing the possibility of Armageddon. After thanking Jophiel for her presentation, he asks where Uriel is, and Gabriel says that she is gone because Metatron detained her, causing the other angels (besides Metatron) to laugh. Raguel asks Metatron about her punishment, saying that three years was too much. Gabriel disagrees and insults Uriel, and Metatron intervenes before a fight can break out. He states that he would decide on how to deal with Uriel.[4]
Metatron assigns Gabriel to do Uriel's assignment, now that she is being detained. One includes monitoring Dokja. He also assigns Jophiel to watch him and makes sure he isn't lazy because he knows that Gabriel tends to slack.[4]
When Gabriel and Jophiel arrive in the 1863rd round with Kim Dokja, he confirms that Metatron knew about Eden's potential destruction.[28] Gabriel later asks Dokja for more details about the destruction of Eden, but Dokja doesn't answer, telling him to talk to Metatron to know more.[29]
Metatron warns Michael to stop his actions when he tries to fight Uriel. His power causes a storm to break out. Michael reluctantly listens to Metatron[30]
Dokja notices that real sheep exist in Eden. Raphael tells Dokja a story about Uriel. He explains that one time, Metatron gave Uriel a task to bring 10 lambs to Eden, which was metaphorical for worshipers, but she had brought real lambs instead. Raphael continues past the sheep and leads Dokja to Metatron's office. Metatron welcomes Dokja. Dokja tells Metatron the stories in the 1863rd world line, and Metatron listens to him. When Secretive Plotter is brought up, Metatron confirms that every constellation knows him by his name, but none know him very well.[5]
After listening, he confirms that he knew about the destruction of Eden the entire time. Dokja asks him why he was called, and when Metatron tells Dokja to explain why himself, Dokja says that Metatron wants to use him as a mediator to prevent destruction because Dokja was a Demon King that had not chosen a side yet. Metatron doesn't answer for a moment, and then uses his power against Dokja. Dokja's fourth wall blocks the onslaught, and Metatron expresses his admiration for Dokja, saying that he was a also a chosen being of the Fragment of the Last Wall. Metatron reveals that he also owns a wall, the Wall Dividing Good and Evil.[5]
Metatron's wall is unable to decide if Dokja is good or evil. Metatron says that he will not define Dokja as evil, because he is useful. Dokja cannot read his exact thoughts. Dokja thinks to himself that Metatron is different from the Metatron that he knew, because Metatron knew about the wall and the Ways of Survival. Dokja asks what the Last Wall is, and Metatron asks why he wants to know, then tells Biyoo to close the channel. The constellations watching protest, but Biyoo does it anyways. Metatron explains that the Last World was a wall that created the essence of the world, but it crumpled and created fragments of a wall. In a serious voice, Metatron tells Dokja that he thinks Dokja can stop the destruction. Dokja agrees to help as long as Metatron helps to save Yoo Sangah. Metatron says that Dokja can use Star Relic Fruits and star fluids, which are not found in Eden.[6]
Metatron asks Surya about the demon hunting. Surya places the heads of a grand duke demon on Metatron's table, and Metatron tells him rewards will be sent. Metatron tells Surya to come to Eden, but he declines. Surya tells Dokja that he can help with Sangah's illness, and Metatron smiles faintly.[6]
Metatron is a witness to the agreement between Dokja and Surya, with the agreement that he'd also get a stake in the story, and that he'd give Dokja one of Eden's Star Relics.[31]
A message to Metatron from Jophiel about the identity of Secretive Plotter.[31]
At the banquet in the Duet Between Good and Evil, Uriel pulls Dokja to sit to her right, on the side of Absolute Good. The others are confused because Dokja is a Demon King, so he cannot be Absolute Good. On Dokja's right, there is Yoo Joonghyuk. Dokja is confused why Metatron brought Jooghyuk. At Yoo Joonghyuk's right, Metatron sits. Metatron tells Uriel that Dokja cannot sit on their side because he is a Demon King, and the two bicker while Dokja goes to his assigned seat. During the banquet, Kim Dokja's company has to decide whether the Torch That Swallowed the Myth is good or evil, and Dokja understands that Metatron brought Joonghyuk to make him declare that the story was good.[32]
When the Torch That Swallowed the Myth can't be declared as good or evil, the archangels are angry, and Metatron dissuades them from doing anything.[14]
After the banquet, Dokja and Sooyoung talk about how Joonghyuk could have obtained the knowledge of the existence of Ways of Survival, and Dokja theorizes that it was Metatron who told him.[14] Dokja's suspicions are later confirmed to be true. Metatron had showed Joonghyuk information that came from a special existence. Joonghyuk wants more information. Metatron is thinks back to how Joonghyuk had stormed Eden alone, and would have been killed by Michael had Metatron not stopped it. Joonghyuk asks where the information came from, and Metatron looks up to see the sky distort and reveal Secretive Plotter.[10]
After Dokja eats the Fruit of Good and Evil, he sees one of Michael's memories.[33] Michael asks Metatron how long he would need to repeat the war, and Metatron tells him not to ponder too deeply and to just focus on hating evil and hunting demons. Michael's memories are blurred, but he notes that Metatron always ha the exact same smile.[8]
