Lycaon Isparang is the prince of Imyuntars from Chronos. He serves as a guide to the incarnations of Seoul in the Main Scenario 5.
Personality[]
Lycaon is described as someone deeply remorseful at the world. He was likely a great hero on Chronos, but was unable to defend his world from the disasters that beset it, and was then forced to travel to another world without anyone of his kind. Despite harboring a separate agenda, he is still shown to be a noble person once shown the Protection Symbol of his people, and bows down to Kim Dokja. He refuses to call Kim Dokja by his name, and instead calls him by "Protector." As a former noble and hero he is somewhat prideful and looks down on others.
History[]
Lycaon was a prince from the world of Chronos, and a part of one of the five dominant species on the planet. He lived in the southern continent of Chronos with the rest of his kind.[3]
However, Chronos was eventually destroyed by five disasters that beset it. Five heroes from Chronos were selected by the Star Stream to become guides for incarnations of a different scenario. Lycaon agreed, but had a secret agenda to try and revive his civilization on the new planet.
Synopsis[]
Lycaon is sent to the planet Earth through a meteor that lands in the Seoul, expected to teach the incarnations of Seoul how to defeat the five disasters that had already destroyed his own world.
Although he expected to wake up simultaneously with the other guides, he was woken up by Kim Dokja and Han Sooyoung, who transferred mana to the meteor he was trapped in. Knowing that there is ordinarily supposed to be an Absolute Throne, he is confused when he doesn't see the supposed king nearby. Kim Dokja informs him that the throne was destroyed, and Lycaon despairs thinking that this world was ruined as well without it. Kim Dokja then shows him the Protection Symbol of the Imyuntar, which proves he had hunted the disaster dragon that destroyed his world, and orders Lycaon to submit to him. Lycaon, deeply shaken, bows down to Kim Dokja, who orders Lycaon to teach him the ability Way of the Wind.[3]
Lycaon then prepares to start the training, but over the course of the next few hours, realizes that Kim Dokja is completely unsuited to learning any of the skills he knows. Although they continue for the next two days, no progress is made, to the great frustration of Kim Dokja. In this frustration, Kim Dokja reads out various forms of enlightenment related to Way of the Wind that Yoo Joonghyuk had learned in Ways of Survival. Lycaon is deeply impressed by the profound insight, and reaches a new level of enlightenment. Greatly appreciating Kim Dokja's words, he turns around and starts practicing himself, starting to evolve. While gaining enlightenment, he is unresponsive to Kim Doja, who then leaves.[4]
He is later summoned by Kim Dokja using the Protection Symbol of the Imyuntar, who is being attacked by the guide Antinus.[5] He dashes towards Kim Dokja's location and sees Antinus fighting the humans and attempting to hatch a disaster, completely opposite to their objectives as guides. He attempts to reason with Antinus, but it goes nowhere, and they begin fighting. Using the boost in power from his enlightenment, Lycaon manages to tear out Antinus' wings and gain the upper hand, but Antinus begins to use power from beyond the scenario and starts to develop a probability storm. Lycaon is unable to block a final blast of power from Antinus, which strikes the meteor containing the Disaster of Questions and explodes it. Due to their status' as guide, Antinus and Lycaon are greatly weakened by the force of the disaster and they are both blown away from the explosion.[6]
Lycaon falls unconscious to this explosion and is fatally wounded by it. Antinus, on her survival instincts, takes control of Lycaon's body. Knowing that she doesn't have a lot of time with this body, she starts to find a new host. However, she attempts to control Lee Gilyoung, who immediately overpowers and subjugates her. Lycaon likely succumbs to his injuries.[7]
