Incarnations are inhabitants of the <Star Stream> and one of the two main types of participants in the scenarios.

Appearance[]

It is implied that some members of every species from all planetary systems included in the <Star Stream> count as incarnations, making their appearances as varied as the number of species. The majority of incarnations seen in the text of ORV are humans, who naturally have humanoid forms.

Description[]

Most (if not all) individuals entering the scenarios are automatically cast as incarnations, beginning with no Status, no accumulated Stories, and no coins to their name. They start participating in the <Star Stream> beginning with Main Scenario 1, the contents of which may vary from planetary system to planetary system. As they progress, they earn coins and Stories which lead to increases in their power.

Powers[]

Each incarnation's powers are represented through a number of features displayed in their Attributes Windows. These include the following.

Personal attributes[]

Also known as exclusive attributes or private attributes. These represent notable features of the incarnation's personality, roles, and interests, and some (but not all) attributes are linked to skills. An attribute can be earned by multiple incarnations, generally those who share some trait. Examples include Pro Gamer (earned from a pre-scenarios career), Gifted Hoodlum (likely earned due to a troublemaking personality), and Insect Collector (earned from an interest in bugs). An example of an attribute shared between multiple individuals is the Author attribute, earned by those who have a sincere desire to write a new story.[1]

Every attribute has a rating, similar to the rating scale used for constellations. The known ratings are listed below in ascending order of rarity and strength:

  • General (the most common type)
  • Rare
  • Hero
  • Legend/Legendary
  • Quasi-myth
  • Myth

If a certain attribute is utilized often enough, and if a particular situation comes along that suits its effects, the attribute can undergo an attribute evolution, gaining a higher rating and increasing the strength of the incarnation. An incarnation whose attribute evolves may also gain additional associated skills, or have a pre-existing associated skill become stronger.

Personal skills[]

Main article: Skills

Also known as exclusive skills or private skills. These are abilities that can directly be used by the incarnation, generally drawing on relevant stats to power them. Similar to attributes, naturally-earned skills generally represent some facet of the incarnation's personality or abilities; unlike attributes, however, skills can be directly called upon to increase the incarnation's ability or to have some effect upon the world. As with attributes, multiple incarnations can have the same skill.

Skills are rated through levels; a higher level directly corresponds to a stronger skill. Most incarnations start with skills that range somewhere from level 1 to 10.

Stigmas[]

Stigmas are, in essence, unique skills that are formed by certain individuals, and are intrinsically linked to their creator's personality or nature. They cannot be shared by multiple incarnations and constellations, unless it is through a sponsor contract, or gifted directly by their creator to another incarnation or constellation. Incarnations cannot create their own stigmas and are limited to using sponsored or gifted stigmas.

Like skills, stigmas have levels, although they generally don't rise in levels as quickly as skills do.

Stats[]

Every incarnation has four basic stats: Constitution, Strength, Agility, and Magic Power. These serve as a summary of the incarnation's base abilities.

Stats are rated by levels, much like skills and stigmas. Uniquely, stats can be raised through coin payments, which raise in quantity every 10 levels. Incarnations generally start the scenarios with stats that range between level 1 to level 10; beginning stats that sum up to over 25 are noted as being impressive.

Stories[]

Main article: Story

Incarnations can collect Stories through impressive performances in the scenarios. These Stories will contribute to their strength and Status, and are naturally called upon in future situations that are similar to the original event where the Story was obtained. In these new, similar situations, the Story will boost the incarnation's power and make them stronger. Earning five Stories that are legendary-ranked (at minimum) results in the incarnation becoming a constellation.

Other abilities[]

  • Coin ownership and management: All incarnations are automatically able to control the coins they earn, using them for various purposes including boosting their stats, or paying for skills and items in the Dokkaebi Bag.
  • Contract formation
    • Sponsor contracts can be formed with constellations who favor an incarnation. This allows the constellation to grant the sponsored incarnation their own stigmas, as well as support them through items bought from the dokkaebis. The incarnation is backed by the reputation and powers of their sponsor and carries on their sponsor's Story.
    • Stream contracts can be negotiated with dokkaebis, if both parties are aware of the possibility of a contract and amenable to the conditions of formation. The specific terms depend on the parties negotiating the contract. The single known instance of an incarnation-dokkaebi stream contract involved the dokkaebi paying commission fees to the incarnation in exchange for having him remain sponsorless, so as to attract attention to the dokkaebi's channel from constellations looking for an incarnation to sponsor.
