The 'Disconnected Film Theory' is a way to explain a certain type of time paradox in Three Ways to Survive in a Ruined World. This paradox occurs when two beings who share a great amount of stories meet.
According to this theory, each regression's worldline can be represented by a roll of movie film. All worldlines display the same beginning, but they might diverge as it goes on. The films are, from beginning to end, parallel to each other, but it's possible them to meet when the end of one roll is attached to another's. When they link, one's films content doesn't affect the other's; so even if one changes, it doesn't modify the other. However, if one part of the jointed roll is burnt, the rest will burn too. That's why, by killing one of the two beings involved while Disconnected Film Theory is active, the other one will also die.[1]
Instances of Disconnected Film Theory[]
Shin Yoosung from the 41st regression[]
In the Main Scenario #5, Shin Yoosung from the 41st regression arrives to the 3rd regression's worldine as the Disaster of Floods. When Shin Yoosung from the 3rd regression meets The Disaster of Floods, Disconnected Film Theory activates, and the two of them exchange memories.[2]
It's presumed that the Shin Yoosung from the 3rd round didn't die when her alternate self from the 41st round did because the Disconnected Film Theory wasn't active at the time.
Secretive Plotter and Yoo Joonghyuk from the 1864th/false 3rd turn[]

Oldest Dream and Kim Dokja[]
When Kim Dokja's Company arrive at the subway station beyond The Final Wall, Disconnected Film Theory activates between the Oldest Dream and Kim Dokja.[3] Taking advantage of it, Kim Dokja tries to kill himself in a attempt to "end" the Oldest Dream.
Kim Dokja (Epilogue)[]
In the final chapter, Han Sooyoung mentions Disconnected Film theory as the Star Stream starts to work again.[4] She might be referring to how each story comes back to/reunites with each person involved in them thanks to each fragment of Kim Dokja imagining the end.
