Coins are the main currency of the <Star Stream>.

Appearance[]

No physical description of coins has been given so far, but there is evidence for them existing as physical objects in addition to being virtual currency, as seen in one instance where Kim Dokja rummages in his pockets for coins.[1]

Usage and powers[]

Coins can be used in many ways, including:

  • raising the level of stats like Constitution and Strength[2]
  • buying skills and items from the Dokkaebi Bag and other stores[2]
  • sponsoring incarnations (mainly used by constellations, outer gods, and possibly also demon kings)
  • sending indirect messages (used by constellations, outer gods, and demon kings, at a flat rate of 200 coins per indirect message)[3]
  • other unspecified uses.

In addition to all these functions, they can also be converted into raw probability, which they are a concentrated form of.

Coins generally exist in a virtual format. An individual's coin balance can be accessed by touching the tips of their index finger and thumb together, in a gesture similar to the "okay" hand sign; part or all of the coin balance may be displayed using this technique.[4] Coins may be transferred between two individuals, generally by touching each other's index finger and stating the number of coins they want to exchange.[5]

100 coins is the minimum amount of coins offered as rewards from main scenarios, implying that coins in general are used in rather large denominations. This is further supported by the rapid inflation in amounts of coins sponsored and used during the progression of the early scenarios. For instance, in the subway scenarios Kim Dokja charges other incarnations 50 coins per piece of food (seen as a "high" price to the early-level incarnations),[6] while shortly after even 2000 coins offered by Min Jiwon is not enough to sway him to her side.[4]

Trivia[]

  • It is possible that only physical contact is needed, rather than specifically touching index fingers, in order to transfer coins. Jung Heewon is able to transfer coins to Kim Dokja by punching him gently.[7] It isn't confirmed whether this is skin-to-skin contact, or if coins may be transferred even through clothing.
