Cheok Jungyeong, more commonly known as his modifier, Goryeo's First Sword, is a constellation who wanted to become Kim Dokja's sponsor in the second sponsor selection. According to Kim Dokja, he is "the greatest person on the Korean Peninsula."[1] Cheok Jungyeong referred to himself as "[The strongest military leader on the Korean Peninsula.]"[2]
Personality[]
Cheok Jungyeong is very rebellious. Despite initially being only a historical grade constellation he mocks the higher grade constellations at the constellation banquet and sides with Kim Dokja. He is willing to support Kim Dokja who also rebels against the scenario. He values strength and bravery and is willing to stand up to those more powerful than him. He often comes across as brusque and rude but cares about justice and fairness.
Appearance[]
His appearance as a symbolic body is humanoid, which is extremely uncommon for constellations of the Korean Peninsula.
He is depicted as an older version of his humanoid self clad in dark traditional military uniform with white streaked hair, hardened features and a scruffy beard.
History[]
At some point Jungyeong was expelled from the scenarios by the constellations because he was too strong, but survived because his nebula made a deal with the Wenny Men.
At another point a nebula also forced a fate onto him similar to Kim Dokja in the Dark Castle. He was once again saved by his nebula.[2]
Synopsis[]
Jungyeong makes his first appearance during the Constellation Banquet, where he is called by the other Narrative Constellations "the strongest single Constellation of the Korean Penensula", making Kim Dokja astonished. As Kim Dokja is ushered to the second floor to Persephone by the Underworld Judges, he scoffs at him, disappointed initially and claims Dokja is just like any other Incarnation, and almost engages in a fight with the Judges before Persephone breaks the tension.
He is then shown again during the Dark Castle arc when Kim Dokja calls upon Jungyeong, who responds and answers by providing a portion of his powers to him, taking place in his right arm and destroying the trap. As an Outer God starts descending upon the scenario and stealing Dokja's mother, Jungyeong and Kim Dokja wonder where are the other Constellations during this, only for the Major Nebulas to label them as their enemies and warning other Constellations to stay away. Jungyeong is disgusted by this and tells Dokja to stay strong and temporarily takes over his body. While in this state, Kim Dokja sees his memories of him being put on fate just like himself and how Hongik had saved him. He empathizes with Kim Dokja, and that while there was no Nebula to help them, he would not let Dokja die here. He is able to summon enough strength to leave a wound on the Eater of Dreams, and wishes Dokja good luck as Joonhyuk sends Dokja inside the wound, and disappears due to being unable to enter alongside Dokja.
His next appearance happens during the Demon King Selection. He descends to help Kim Dokja face against Surya. He helps fight against Surya's chariot.
After the battle he shares a cup of soju with Brash Swamp Predator.

Relationships[]
Kim Dokja[]
Cheok Jungyeong is very fond of Dokja and is willing to directly aid him and put himself at risk to help him. He likes that Dokja fights against the Star Stream and stands up to constellations no matter how strong they are.
Hongik[]
Jungyeong has a rocky relationship with his nebula and often disagrees with them, however, he owes them a great deal and cannot go against them.
Abilities[]
- Swordsmanship
- Three Sword Style Skills
Swordsmanship[]
Cheok Jungyeong is immensely skilled in swordsmanship, creating a personal style called the "Three Sword Style." This style was given its name due to Cheok Jungyeong never swinging a sword more than three times towards a target.[4] This style is strong enough to cut off the tentacle of the Outer God, Eater of Dreams, although the Outer God hadn't fully formed in the scenario yet. Despite this, Cheok Jungyeong claims that he could cut off all twelve of the Outer God's tentacles if he could use four swords in total.[2] The powerful style was sufficient enough to wound the main body of the Eater of Dreams.
Three Sword Style was powerful enough to almost turn Kim Dokja's right arm, when all of his stats surpassed 100, into a "rag"[7] showing the intensity of the style. This is supported by Cheok Jungyeong's comment that Kim Dokja's "[...presence might disappear]"[2]if the power was used. However, Kim Dokja notes that Cheok Jungyeong's Three Sword Style would be unable to kill the Eater of Dreams.[3]
Three Sword Style was powerful enough to cause the Great Sage, Heaven's Equal to become interested in it, who hadn't shown much interest in other constellations at that point in the story. [3]
