Episode 9: Chapter 40 - Omniscient Sunfish (4) is the fortieth chapter of Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint.
Summary[]
The party goes through the sixth floor of the Theatre Dungeon, they earn the skill book for [Calm Observation]; after acquiring the skill, Kim Dokja leads everyone up to the seventh floor. Kim Dokja bids everyone to hurry; however, they are stalled by one final movie. They are transported onto the deck of a ship which is under heavy fire. Upon looking around, Kim Dokja recognizes the setting as that of the Battle of Myeongnyang, but notices that instead of the normal 13 ships, there is only one.
Kim Dokja hurries to find Yi Sunsin's sponsored incarnation, Lee Jihye. She is crouched below deck, throwing up and crying. Despite her sponsor's encouragement, she is unable to pull herself together. Kim Dokja momentarily wonders why he supports her so much when she is afraid of the sea, recalling some passages from Ways of Survival and noting that though people believe Lee Jihye is Yi Sunsin's descendant, she is in fact the descendant of his close friend and ally, Lee Eokgi. Wanting to support Lee Jihye, Yi Sunsin sponsors a bounty scenario and promises Kim Dokja a stigma if he can encourage her and end the movie.
Kim Dokja asks Lee Jihye to endure, before revealing that he knows her sickness is due to their current movie being the favorite of her late best friend. Lee Jihye is startled enough to listen to him, and he demands to know if she killed her best friend only to die cowering like this. Upon his demand that she at least try to save some lives now, she comes with him to the deck, where Kim Dokja rallies alongside Jung Heewon and Lee Gilyoung to fight off the Japanese raiders. At her exclamation that she is too disgusting to be allowed to live, he reminds her that everyone still alive has killed people. Turning to her, he informs her that if she doesn't fight, she will die.
Lee Jihye's desire to survive spurs her into action, and the Maritime War God responds to her will, granting her the stigma [Ghost Fleet]. She summons 12 ghost ships and commands them to sail onward and defeat the enemies, completely overwhelming the other side's battleships. As the battle ends, Kim Dokja clears the bounty scenario and receives the powerful stigma [Song of the Sword]. Upon returning to the Theatre Dungeon, Kim Dokja bids the worn-out Lee Jihye to stay on the seventh floor while the rest of them continue on. Distributing the Enhancement Ampoules to the others and boosting his stats through a combo of ampoules and coins, they go to the eighth floor. Here, he spots Yoo Joonghyuk, who he immediately throws himself at and smacks across the head.[1]
