Episode 35: Chapter 184 - The 73rd Demon King (3) is the one hundred and eighty-fourth chapter of Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint.

Summary[]

Kim Dokja thinks to himself that the next scenario may be the easiest yet, due to everyone's thorough preparation. While Lee Jihye and Gong Pildu were raising their Dark Castle ranking, their ranks were automatically upgraded, meaning a top 10 ranker had suddenly died. Although it's ominous, the party finishes their training and starts to leave.

Kim Dokja looks upon his party: an amalgam of his favorite characters from Ways of Survival as well as new friends. He smiles and realizes that he is afraid to lose his companions. Soon after, they meet with Cho Youngran, whom Dokja asked Lee Sookyung to send earlier. He recalls the journey Lee Sookyung had gone through. Unlike himself, who knew the whole story, his mother had to undergo massive trials and paid impossible prices to try and keep Kim Dokja safe. Yet upon their reunion, he still wasn't able to say anything much to her, and she couldn't say a lot either. At this meeting, Lee Sookyung just said, "I believe in your choice."

While the party starts walking towards the teleportation altar to the next floor, they grow wary from the strange absence of messages from the large nebulae. Kim Dokja tries to reassure Yoo Sangah, but they both know that the fate heralding his death had not yet disappeared. Upon reaching their destination, they confirm their entrance into the scenario and start sneaking to the boss.

However, the chamber's passage is extremely quiet, and Kim Dokja is unable to feel the demon king's aura at all. A system message emerges saying that an error had occurred in the scenario. They soon find numerous dead bodies, which continue to spark from a probability storm even after death, signaling that an incredible amount of force was used. Yoo Joonghyuk notices that the dead were incarnations of Vedas and Papyrus, and Kim Dokja realizes that the sudden rising of Lee Jihye and Gong Pildu's rankings were due to these rankers dying here. Yoo Joonghyuk and Kim Dokja both get an ominous hunch, and forgo the formation to start sprinting towards the main hall. They witness numerous dokkaebis floating around the centre of the hall.

The dokkaebis talk to some constellations, though Kim Dokja and Yoo Joonghyuk are obviously meant to listen. They mention how the constellations used Deus Ex Machina "worried about the incarnations," and how the probability cost of doing so had many of the lower constellations collapse. They find the 73rd demon king already lying on the ground, torn apart and defeated.

However, due to the excessive intervention of transcendent existences, the Star Stream instead forcibly balances the scenario. Kim Dokja realizes that the Star Stream liked the natural flow of stories but could not revive dead existences. Although the 73rd demon king was dead, a 73rd demon king was still needed, since the incarnations needed to hunt one to proceed. The main scenario's contents update. Kim Dokja notices a shining jade in the spot where the demon king died, and an eerie feeling envelops him. He looks around, but notices Yoo Joonghyuk not next to him. Yoo Joonghyuk makes it to the jade and with a never before seen conviction, says, "Kim Dokja. Be sure to keep your promise."

System messages rise, saying that a new candidate for the 73rd Demon King had been found and elected.
