Episode 4: Chapter 18 - Line of Hypocrisy (3) is the eighteenth chapter of Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint.

Summary[]

Kim Dokja puts off dealing with Cheon Inho due to the constellations' current lack of focus on him, instead having Lee Hyunsung explain the situation at Geumho Station to him. He learns about the protector-dependent relationship between the mainstream and the marginalized groups, and also learns how patrols searching for food are sent out with only the mainstream group members returning. Jung Heewon, the woman whose life Kim Dokja saved and who has since been healing, was part of such a patrol.

Kim Dokja notes Lee Hyunsung's strength and points out that the mainstream group must have tried to recruit him, but Lee Hyunsung says he refused, feeling something was wrong. Kim Dokja praises him and starts handing out food to the hungry party. They are surprised, however, when he says that they will have to start paying 10 coins apiece from the next meal. Jung Heewon, having woken up in the meantime, pays for this meal as well and encourages the others to join her, pointing out that Kim Dokja risked his life for the food and deserves payment. They all exchange coins individually, with Lee Gilyoung paying even for the chocolate bar Kim Dokja gave him earlier.

Cheon Inho asks to speak with Kim Dokja. He offers him a high position in the mainstream group in exchange for his service as a "hitman", collecting food for the group; this job, Kim Dokja knows, was held by Yoo Joonghyuk before he left. He rejects Cheon Inho's offer. As he walks away, the marginalized group descends on Kim Dokja, begging him to reconsider and share the food. Cheon Inho, assuming the pressure will make Kim Dokja give in, goes to pacify them and claims that he has decided to share the food. However, Kim Dokja contradicts him, saying that he will give out food but only in exchange for coin payments.

Later, Jung Heewon praises Kim Dokja for his bold actions against the mainstream group's monopoly on food, but Lee Hyunsung raises doubts about the high pricing of the food at 50 coins apiece. Kim Dokja remains confident and tells Lee Hyunsung to be patient.[1]
